Tampax, "Tampons & Tea"
Film, OLV, Print, Social
So, how did we end up with an ad that got banned?
Here’s the story:
Tampax research found that hundreds of women in the UK do not know how to use tampons correctly, and thus find them uncomfortable. That’s not so surprising, considering the fact that no one talks about tampons: how to use them, how they should feel, etc. It was clear to us that some open, honest, taboo-breaking tampon instruction was necessary.
Enter “Tampons and Tea,” a faux talk-show hosted by guru Comfort Wright, who boldly tackles tampon discomfort with a simple truth: “if you can feel the tampon inside you, it’s probably not in far enough.”
After running in several western European countries, this ad (above) was banned in Ireland after 84 complaints.
P&G’s response: "…we will continue in our efforts to normalise periods and help end period stigma."
